Stop charges and return part of a rental
Published 2026-09-30 · Updated 2026-09-30
Stop billing for selected units or quantity, receive only what comes back, and keep the remaining rental work active.
Before you start.
- Know the affected class, returned quantity or unit numbers, and effective cutoff.
Steps.
Select only the part being called off
Take me there →Use Stop rental charges on the rental. Enter the exact cutoff and select units or a quantity. Choose specific units when identity matters or the form requires it; do not select the whole line by default.
Record the actual return separately
Arrange the matching pickup or check in customer drop-offs. Select only the machines or quantity actually received. Pooled stock records returned, missing, and damaged counts rather than invented unit numbers.
Verify what remains
Check the remaining on-rent quantities, possession, and pickup work after saving. Finish readiness for received units. Keep the rental open while unresolved equipment remains.
warning
Stopping charges for two of four machines does not return all four. A quantity-only call-off is a commercial cutoff, not proof of machine identity or physical receipt.
Common problems and recovery.
Units on the same line went out at different times.
Follow the form’s request to choose specific units. Check that the cutoff applies to equipment already out at that time.
All returned units have not closed the rental.
Resolve Re-Rents, pooled missing/damaged outcomes, and any other outstanding equipment. Choose the explicit close action when offered; billing follow-up is separate.
